Arthouse cinema is showing a classical Finnish movie “The man without a past” by the famous director Aki Kaurismäki on the 30th of January. There will be English subtitles, of course, and you will hear a short introduction about the Finnish movie industry and culture before we start the movie. Take your ESNcard with you and you might be able to enjoy a drink from the bar with a reduced price before or after the movie.

The man without a past:
An unnamed man arrives to Helsinki by train, only to be viciously attacked by thugs and pronounced dead by medics. He revives, but with no memory of his past or his identity. He rebuilds his life from scratch, living in container dwellings and receiving help from the Salvation Army. He finds new friends, and a new love. But the past inevitably catches up with him.
Written, directed and produced by Aki Kaurismäki
Starring Markku Peltola, Kati Outinen, Juhani Niemelä
